My test witnessing services

Test witnessing is the overseeing of a test carried out by or on behalf of a supplier or subcontractor, when a client needs to be sure that the test has been performed properly and that the reported results are accurate.

Test witnessing is often applied where the test concerned is designed to demonstrate a critical aspect of product performance, or where the test is expensive to perform, or where it is impractical to perform on more than a small number of items.

What I will do for you

I will witness tests in accordance with any specific instructions you provide, but typically I will

• verify that the facility is suitable for the test to be carried out, ensuring that it holds any necessary approvals or certifications;
• check that personnel conducting the test are appropriately trained or certified;
• ensure that the test is carried out in accordance with the stipulated standards or specifications, and that any anomalies, errors or unplanned incidents observed during testing are properly reported;
• review the facility’s records to establish that the measuring equipment used in the test is capable of measurement with sufficient accuracy and resolution for the purpose, and is within calibration at the time of the test;
• confirm that the test results recorded by the test facility accurately and fully reflect those obtained during testing.

I will prepare a report for you using your own forms or report format if available; otherwise I will provide a report to you in my own style and covering the agreed aspects of test performance.
